Malinga who bade farewell to the one-day game after a victory was able to steer the Sri Lankan team into a win of 91 runs in the one-day match against the touring Bangladesh side. In reply to the 314 runs collected by Sri Lanka, Bangladeshis managed to total only 223 runs.

Lasith Malinga on his final one-day game grabbed 3 wickets for 38 runs in 9.4 overs. It was incidentally Malinga himself who bagged the last wicket thus bringing Sri Lanka her victory. Opposition leader as well as several politicians were among spectators of the match.
