Chinese, Russian brothel in Bambalapitiya raided
A brothel where foreign ladies were supplied in Bambalapitiya, Colombo was raided by officers of the intelligence unit of immigration and emigration department last morning (17). On this occasion three Chinese and Russian ladies had come to Sri Lanka and engaged in the illegal profession of prostitution were taken into custody, it was reported.
The officers concerned have made use of a decoy and saying that he required services of these ladies.
Having gained entrance to this house and when the payment was secured and the decoy was shown the way to the room the officers commenced their raid and were able to arrest the ladies. A russian lady between the age of 25 and 40 and two Chinese ladies were thus taken into custody, it was reported.

The arrest was carried out because according to immigration and emigration regulations any person who arrives in this country on a valid visa is prohibited from engaging in employment in this country and according to the criminal law, engaging in the profession of prostitution is a prohibited activity.
The three ladies taken into custody this way are detained at Mirihana detention quarters while officers of immigration and emigration department are continuing attending to future steps regarding the suspects.
