Sri Lanka trounces England!

Sri Lanka recorded a convincing victory in the match of the first round of the world cup played at Leeds, England today (21) by beating the hosts England.

Sri Lanka who opened batting first amassed 232 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. However, England could not go past their target of  233 and was able to collect only 212 runs. At a time when Sri Lanka were placed in a precarious situation with wickets
toppling; the rapid 49 runs collected by Avishka Fernando, 46 of Kusal Mendis and Angelo Matthews who was successful this time remaining unbeaten on 85 paved the way for Sri Lanka to reach a sizeable total. 

Whatever it is, England's frontline faced a risk in the face of Malinga's bowling stint and thus managed to bag 4 wickets and displayed his prowess. Dhananjaya capturing 3 wickets, Isuru Udana bagging 2 wickets with Nuwan Pradeep capturing the last wicket were the reasons for this victory. It was Lasith Malinga who became the hero of the match and all the same attention was focused on world cricket once again for the reason that Sri Lanka was able to gain victory over England in their home grounds.
