because she did not consent for proposal of 65 year old uncle

Sooriyawewa police say that a mother of two was murdered yesterday (10)  by wounds inflicted from a sharp instrument in West Beddewewa, Sooriyawewa. 

It is one Thelikorale Aarachchige Chamila Priyangani, a 28 year old mother of two living in No. 4362, Beddewewa West, Sooriyawewa who was subjected to murder. A 65 year old father of five children living close to her ancestral home had brought her an illicit proposal on a number of
occasions and the victim concerned has mentioned this to her husband as well as her parents. 

As a result of this, the suspect has on a number of occasions engaged in conflicts with the lady concerned and their parents several times. In the instance this lady was at home, the suspect has come home and asked her for her decision. On that occasion she has refused his approach and an exchange of words had flared up when the woman has dealt a blow on this person. 

Later she has told her parents about this and her mother had shouted at the suspect and had told that they would be going to police. The suspect who had got into a rage over this matter while going to the ancestral home where she was had followed her and had attacked her with a sharp instrument and killed her around 1.30 in the afternoon. This suspect of five children has subsequently fled the area. 

The kith and kin who flew into a temper because of this incident had caused damage to the suspect's house. The dead body of the woman who was subjected to the attack is lying at Sooriyawewa hospital mortuary. The magistrate inquiry in this connection was conducted by Hambanthota magistrate and additional district judge Mr. Nalaka Sanjeewa Jayasuriya last afternoon (10) while special judicial medical officer of Hambanthota general hospital was assigned post-mortem activities.
