Gamini Hettiaarachchi passes away
Reputed artiste Gamini Hettiarachchi passed away. He has been ailing for sometime during the past few days and after that period while under treatment at the national hospital has passed away at the age of 68 years.
Gamini played roles in a number of teledramas and films and is an Old Boy of Nalanda College. He displayed his acting skills with professor Ediriweera Sarachchandra as his mentor. He in fact was the
subject of discussion for sometime because of the stage-play "Raththaran". Gamini became popular from films such as Aswesuma, Singhawalokanaya, Vidu, Ayoma, Bahuboothayo and Costapal Pugnasoma and became exceedingly popular at one time because of the teledrama Yashorawaya. He played a role in the teledrama 'Sidu' a drama of the present generation of recent times. He possessed an acting prowess in portraying complex as well as simple character roles in the most realistic manner. Gamini was an actor was subjected to awards in this field. Up and coming actress Prathiba Hettiaarachchi is his daughter.
