Veteran musician H.M. Jayawardena passes away

Well-known musician Mr. H.M. Jayawardena passed away today (8). He had been in an ailing condition for some time and warded at Kalubowila hospital under treatment and died today after reaching his 69th year. 

Herath Mudiyanselage Jayawardena (H.M. Jayawardena) is a versatile lyricist. He is a singer who sang only songs such as 'Eka yaaye ekata kaka' (Mangala thegga) and 'Gangawa mamai'. He in fact is
the husband of distinguished singer Malini Bulathsinghala and happens to be the father of singer Kasun Kalhara Jayawardena who at the forefront of the new generation.

Late Mr. Jayawardena who was born in Siyambalanduwa has had his education at Passara Madhya Maha Vidyalaya. Having achieved skill in playing the flute, he later switched over to music and thus launched himself into that field.He was the owner of about thousand lyrics composed for songs such as 'me lowedi dutu ohumada me', 'Hemanthayedi', 'Sanda tharu nihandai', 'Obai ramya sanda kirana', 'Poojasanaye oba hinduwa', 'Kadanandiye dola aine', 'Ma ekkala amanapa wi dabara', 'Eya yanna giya mekila' which were very much popular.
