Power-cut prolonged till Sinhala new year -- Ravi says

The present power-cut has to be extended till middle of the month of April when Sinhala new year is to dawn, minister of Electricity, minister Ravi Karunanayaka said yesterday (26). He has also mentioned that an attempt will be made to minimise the number of hours when electricity will be disconnected and that he cannot take responsibility for this problematic situation. He also pointed out
that this issue had been developing for the past 5 years from 2014 without a proper solution and that there were a number of occasions where there were several instances of power-cuts.

It was pointed out that no required adjustments or changes have been effected to correspond with the demand of power supply which keeps on rising from 2014 and that for that reason the electricity system which is based on hydro-electricity with a high demand has gone beyond the bearable limits with dry weather adding to it.

Whatever it is, the minister who says that there is no point in blaming the past and that an attempt is being made every moment to provide a solution to this predicament as soon as possible and that according to prevailing conditions, there is situation where the power-cut has to be extended till the middle part of April when Sinhala new year dawns and that due to this reason a considerable loss will be experienced in the case of personal activities of the public as well as the  national income of the state.
