The recent murder of two persons from Rathgama, which incident which caught the attention of the country has already been revealed that it was a brutal act which took place because of a mistake of police.

Whatever the circumstances are, both of them were apprehended by police over a secret deal of supplying firearms to underground elements and what is revealed by now is that one of them is the
main suspect of a murder case while the other is a suspect of a robbery. The individual Manjula Kumara, it was revealed from police inquiries that he is the main suspect in the incident where a businessman named Stanis Joseph of Anamaduwa was shot dead on December 10th in the year 2010. The said businessman who carried on a racket of exporting 'Kothalhimbutu' abroad was murdered on a contract given by a politician in Wattala area. At the time the murder took place, Manjula Asela Kumara was attached to the Armed Forces and had been serving the Special Task Force.

The court case of the murder is in the process of being heard in Anamaduwa Courts and was to be heard once more on April 4th. In the meantime, deceased Rasin Chinthaka who too was  abducted in Rathgama happens to be a main suspect in a looting incident in Rathgama area on November 17th in the year 2012. The court case regarding this robbery is expected to be heard in Galle Court next April 24th. He was cornered by police on December 17th in the year 2008 with a 'galkatas' in possession; however as there were no witnesses, the case was thrown.
Apart from that another case is pending in Galle Courts for the offence of keeping T 56 live ammunition in possession. 

According to police sources, the two of them were taken away last January 23rd to be questioned about a firearm. On that occasion one of them had died during interrogation and later police officers have murdered the other suspect too and after taking the dead bodies to a forest in Walasmulla and had disposed of them by setting fire to the bodies, thus putting an ed to everything. Criminal Investigation Department is conducting investigations with regard to this dual murder and the van linked to this murder too has been recovered.
