Arjuna's side lose ... Thilanga's confederates clinch head-seats
After elections of Sri Lanka Cricket, Shammi Silva was elected as President of the association while Mohan Silva was elected Secretary today. The position of Vice President went to Ravin Wickramaratna and K. Mathivanan. Mr. Jayantha Dharmadasa of Nawaloka Holdings who contested as chairman acquired only 56 votes. Thus Mr. Shammi Silva achieved the position by winning 83 votes in comparison.
Arjuna Ranatunga who vied for position of Vice Chairman secured 72 votes while Ravin
Wickremaratna who won 82 votes and K. Mathivanan who secured 80 votes managed to acquire the two positions of Vice Chairmen of Sri Lanka Cricket. Former Secretary Mr. Nishantha Ranatunga who contested from Ranatunga party happened to lose to Mohan de Silva. Mr. Lasantha Wickremasingha who clinched 102 votes was appointed as the new treasure with a majority of 69 votes. On that occasion Eastman Narangoda received only 33 votes. As such, all positions such as President, Vice President and Secretary were acquired by the Sumathipala faction.
