Commotion at Sahara Flashback concert at Bandarawela ... for having closed up early

Property of Bandarawela Public Playground was damaged during a musical show on 23rd night by a crowd under the influence of liquor with chairs being hurled around and in the process a sub inspector who was involved in controlling the aggressive crowd was injured and admitted to Bandarawela Hospital as a result.

Organisers have in fact obtained a licence from police to hold this music show by inviting Sahara
Flashback music band till 10 in the night; however they have continued till 10.30. Whatever it is, after informing that according to the licence issued, the show cannot proceed beyond the maximum limit of 10.30 by which time the show should end.

However, the audience who were agitated over this situation had resorted to indulge in this unruly behaviour and have started throwing brick bats at he stage. As a consequence the stage, the fence around the playground and flagposts sustained serious damage. The crowd in fact has yelled shouting that they bought tickets not knowing that the concert will come to a standstill so soon and for that reason they had engaged in hailing chairs and stones. Police had then intervened and controlled the situation by manhandling the violent crowd. 20 persons were taken into custody by bandarawela Police in this connection. Those arrested are expected to be produced before Bandarawela Magistrate Court. The video captured during the attack, from below
