Ranil swears in as Prime Minister on Sunday -- cabinet of 30 on Monday -- 6 from SLFP for ministerial posts?

Mahnda Rajapaksa who was subjected to an interim order and was enjoying the position of Prime Minister will be resigning from that position tomorrow the 15th while Ranil Wickremasingha on the other hand will be taking oaths as Prime Minister day after tomorrow the 16th ... once more. 

The President has spoken about this to the Speaker yesterday and after the judgement of Mahinda's interim order not being removed was announced, President Maithripala Sirisena has spoken to United
National Party leader Ranil Wickremasingha and has discussed this matter, it is reported. 

The political drama which was staged for a period of 50 days from last October 26th to December 15th will thus come to an end in this manner and as such, all decisions and all negative responses with "no ... no" by President Maithripala Sirisena have had to be pulled back under these circumstances. As understood, Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha will betaking his oaths in the presence of the President on forthcoming morning of Sunday the 10th. The new cabinet is expected to be sworn in towards evening on Sunday or Monday and there is news to say that 6 ministers of Sri Lanka Freedom Party have expressed their consent to provide support to the United National Party in the case of the cabinet. It is also reported that the cabinet will comprise of 30 ministers. 

Whatever it is, after the political mess up which prevailed, a UNP government will be thus launched without any SLFP or UNP coalition. The Tamil Alliance will bee extending their support as the majority of the UNP, but have not requested for any ministerial portfolios as such. In any case, the Alliance will become the Opposition and to a large extent it is possible that Mahinda Rajapaksa will be chosen as the leader of the Opposition.
