Most people have expressed their dejection about the incident where water mixed with chilli powder was thrown in parliament yesterday. They had looked down thoroughly about this act carried out by UNFP member of parliament, Prasanna Ranaweera, thus bringing disrepute to the respect of the superiority of the parliament. Not only MPs of the Opposition, but parliamentary police officers who had come to afford protection to the Speaker were subjected to this attack and they were
seen attending to their duties without showing any reaction or response, bearing up the attack.

Referring to the attack of chilli powder mixed with water, What SB Dissanayaka says is that it was not chilli powder mixed with water but that the attack was a liquid of Coca Cola and Lemonade. "Who says that it contained chilli powder ... it was just a liquid mixed with Coca Cola and Lemonade no ...".

Whatever it is, Mr. Gamini Jayawickrema Perera and Mr. Wijitha Herath who went for treatment were provided with fresh clothing on behalf of clothing with strong chilli odour and action was taken to remove chilli powder on the eyes of Mr. Perera by the infirmary. Though not much harm was done by this chilli attack to MP Mr. Wijitha Herath, a plaster had to be applied on his forehead as a result of a large book hailed at him. Because of these assaults 12 police officers too had sought medical treatment.
