"Aney ... I still haven't seen Sinhala films" -- Juhi Chawla

A media discussion was held last Saturday morning at "Hiru Golden Film Awards" film festival recently in a grand style. Popular Bollywood stars Juhi Chawla, Govinda, Saif Ali Kahn, Siddharth Malhotra, Sarin Kahn and Shilpa Shetty attended the occasion and during that period they expressed ideas about Sri Lanka and the local cinema.

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Kahn has come to attend a concert in Sri Lanka in the company of Sharuk Kahn many years ago and this is the second occasion where he set foot on this soil. On the occasion
he came here last time, a bomb attack took place at the concert where they were having at Vihara Maha Devi Park because it happened to be the commemorative day of Soma Thero. Subsequently a media discussion was held before his departure from the island where Saif Ali Kahn remarked that he would never after tread on Sri Lankan soil thereafter.

Whatever it is, as time passed by he changed his decision and came to the island this time for the festival concerned. He said that this was a most lovable moment and that Colombo is indeed a beautiful city. Distinguished Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla too expressed her ideas to the media. Juhi Chawla who said that she has never seen a Sri Lankan film also added that she is so happy in coming over here.

Bollywood actress Shilpi Shetty also remarked that Sri Lanka is a land that she loves and that Sri Lankan food which is similar to food in Bangalore. Bollywood actor Siddharth Malhotra who made his first performance here expressed ideas about his experience with the cinema with joy and further said that Sri Lanka was a strange country ... valuing its lovable people and the food as well. Up and coming Bollywood actress Sarin Kahn remarked that he is still new to the cinema here and that he is suffering from guilt because because he has no family foundation about the cinema as such. When asked whether he would wish to get acquainted with a Sri Lankan cinema project, what all Bollywood stars said was that if they get such an opportunity what they would mainly pay attention to is the script and that learning involving the language is not much of a crisis as such. At this point they mentioned that ideas and technology should be shared across an exchange of culture and that what is more significant is getting involved with a good cinematic project.
