Renowned singer Victor Ratnayaka's wife Hashini Amendra had been taken into custody and produced in court in connection with a case of fraud over gold jewellery valued at Rs. 12 lakhs 80,000 during the period from 2012 - 2016 when she was in employment at a state bank situated in Tangalla and was later released on bail banning her from foreign travel with her passport being taken into custody of courts.
However Hashini Amendra Ratnayaka has made a request from Tangalla High Court judge Mr.
R.S.S. Sapuwida having considered the request has taken into consideration the distinguished singer's fame and his age and the request made by his wife Hashini in a sympathetic manner has granted her permission to travel overseas, subjected to a bond of Rs. 10 lakhs and a surety bond. Victor Ratnayaka is expected to hold music shows from October 17th onwards for a number of days in Australia and England.
Though Hashini Amendra Ratnayaka was thus given permission to go abroad, it was informed that under conditions that the passport of person bailing her out would be retained by High Court and that the person would be unable to go abroad until the suspect returns once more to Sri Lanka. Apart from that condition her passport would be handed over to the registrar of Tangalla High Court within a period of one week on returning to Sri Lanka. State counsel Sachini Iddamalgoda appeared on behalf of the plaintiff while attorney-at-law Nishantha Sandabarana appeared for the suspect.
