Facebook pages of Kurunegala boys who posed nude ... missing -- inquiries on instructions of Prime Minister
A special police inquiry is already underway on orders of Prime Minister in connection with youngsters who won attention of the country recently by clicking obscene photos at Pidurangala holy site and subsequently had included those in facebook. The Prime Minister has taken this action after taken into consideration the appeal made by chief incumbent of the vihara.
Police have said that computer examiners of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission have
been deployed to inquire as to who had initially released photos to the internet. Police further remarked that the suspects involved are liable to be prosecuted under 1983 No. 22 of the Obscene Publications Ordinance Act. Whatever it is, they have by now taken steps to delete several facebook profiles which were posted as having been linked to the incident concerned under reference.
Sigiriya police have revealed that two youth living in Galewela area, Matale bordering Kurunegala and five youth in the urban area of Kurunegala form the part of this group of youth. Parties of facebook have extended their co-operation to identify these youth and steps are taken by police to take these two boys into custody today (2), it is reported.
