Chathura Senaratna's wedding function which brought 4000 to Araliya Gaha Mandiraya!
Minister Rajitha Senaratna's son, member of parliament Chathura Senaratna's wedding celebration was held yesterday at Araliya Gaha Mandiraya with an attendance of distinguished politicians as well as a large crowd of people who worked for the party. In this connection, close upon 4000 guests had been present at Araliya Gaha Mandiraya, reports say. The wedding invitation was a special type of invitation card accompanied by a letter sent to each party
supporter to attend the wedding while transport facilities were provided in a manner that party supporters are transported for a political meeting at electorate-level.
Though criticism was levelled in the social media about the function being held in Araliya Gaha Mandiraya itself which is the official residence of the Prime Minister, those who criticised had later made up their minds by thinking that the fact of obtaining permission to hold the wedding of the son of a 'great stalwart' could not be an issue.
The wedding function had borne tremendous expenses and the wedding cake itself was created in such a manner that it almost touched the ceiling. A sum of about Rs. 8000 was expended for the extra-special wedding invitation card for the occasion and invitation cards were sent to approximately 3000 guests.
Normally though speeches are not made at wedding functions, all eyes were focused on the bridegroom Chathura Senaratna who incidentally addressed the audience and launched a lengthy speech. In that speech he unravelled the 11 year romance of meeting Sarupa and went on to provide a response to criticisms aimed at him these days. Chathura mentioned that Araliya Gaha Mandiraya hall had to be arranged because it was not possible to secure another hall where the auspicious hour for the wedding was concerned. He further added that all expenses for the function was borne by his wellwishers.
