Athula who took money from tele actresss Roshana ... arrested!
Film director Athula Iddamalgoda who is alleged to have got involved in a fraud amounting to Rs. 10 lakhs due to artiste Roshana Ondaatji for having promised her that he would get down a luxury motor vehicle for her was taken into custody by police while he was at his car sale called Sinha Holdings in Kohuwala.
This film director was someone who was involved in making films only distributed through DVD cassettes. He in fact has come across Roshana because of shooting of a film called 'Supiri Tarzan'
and on the friendship that developed during that period, she has been interested in getting a vehicle through him. As such, Athula who resides in Minuwangoda has promised that he would get down a vehicle for her and taken Rs. 10 lakhs from her.
There had been a continuous delay in getting the said vehicle and to compensate for it, a vehicle from a rent-a-car firm on hire was given to her for her use; but that too was later taken away from her by force. The said rent-a-car vehicle was provided for her by Imashi cabs manager Buddhika Lakshan whose name incidentally was linked with the news of the sudden death of Aura band member Gihan a few days ago.
Whatever it is, though tele-actress lodged a complaint with the special crimes division of Mirihana police on October 28th last year under the number 388/252, nothing productive has happened. Under such circumstances a complaint was lodged with deputy inspector general of police in charge of Western Province, Mr. Wasantha Wickremasingha and on orders of this deputy inspector general of police, this arrest was made.
Without providing the motor vehicle which was to be imported and though a motor vehicle was given for her use; that too was tried to be on February 17th by a comrade of the suspect film director thus taken possession of him; the artiste had stated. She has further mentioned that the suspect handed her a cheque instead of the Rs. ten lakhs extracted from her on 22nd June, 2017 of a State bank account in Borella and that when and that it was revealed that it turned out to be a cheque which was not honoured at the moment of transaction. Athula Iddamalgoda who has been taken into custody is to be produced before courts. Further inquiries over the incidence is underway.
