Campus student's hand jutting out from bus strikes tipper and severed!
Severed hand taken to national hospital
As a result of the hand of a campus student striking against a tipper, it was severed. The most unfortunate incident has taken place yesterday in Kiriveldeniya area in Pelmadulla.
This Sabaragamuwa student has admitted that he has kept his arm jutting out from the window and a certain tipper which passed by parallel to the vehicle has struck his arm. He had then yelled out and
the bus had abruptly stopped and had taken the arm which was detached from the body and the victim was rushed to hospital together with the severed arm. He had been initially admitted to Ratnapura hospital and then after preliminary treatment he was transferred to Colombo national hospital with the severed arm.
It was a 23 year old Sabaragamuwa university student named Isuru Sandaruwan residing in Agalawatta who thus met with this accident. The accident has occured in the bus travelling from Colombo to Badulla. He had in fact been seated on the right hand side of the bus in which he was travelling with his elbow jutting out when tipper concerned had been passing quite close to the bus in which instance it had struck his arm, knocking the bus too. Drivers of both vehicles were taken into police custody. The detached arm of the student is to be put in order by surgery to be conducted at Colombo national hospital.
