The father of tele-actress Thushari, the latter of whom drowned in the Kelani ganga during a trip to Kitulgala recently has expressed his ideas to the media of how she drowned.

I and wife did not go on the boat ride as such. Daughter and some others went. They then came to the hotel where we were after the boat ride. After that, we loaded the items we brought to the vehicle and settled the hotel bill when daughter said, "I want to take a small wash", and went towards the riverside. I also went. When she got into the waters I told her not to go far. When saying so she got caught to the current. Just then daughter yelled, with hands aloft shouting "thaththe save me!" Then I also tried to jump; but those who were near me got hold of me. Then a person from the hotel came. Since he had no life-saving kit, he refused to jump. By that time daughter had already drowned.

After that when I got together with those who were riding boats and started searching, daughter was taken ashore after a couple of minutes a short distance away from the spot where daughter got into the waters. Later when we brought daughter to Theligama hospital ... she was dead. I lost my daughter. Daughter is married. Her husband is overseas. She has a child".

The deceased star had participated in teledramas and films such as Monara kirilli, Handaya, Lokki, Kathakarana ali petiya and Zoom. The post-mortem of deceased actress was held yesterday (18) at Karawanella Basic Hospital and a verdict of death resulting in drowning was given. By now her body lies at her home situated at her home in Ampitiya, Kandy. The final rites are to be performed tomorrow (20).
