My husband in 'Mahason balakaaya' Amith ... he never told to set fire
Jayangani Sithum Kumari, wife of leader of Mahason balakaaya Amith Weerasingha has filed a complaint with Human Rights saying that her husband was not guilty of the conviction. He was taken into custody on the offence of taking leadership in creating a racial commotion in Kandy
sometime back.
This is what she said to the media at the Human Rights Commission: "My husband Amith Weerasingha of Mahason Balakaya has by now been taken into custody by the Terrorist Investigation Unit. He has never said or done anything that caused harm to anybody. He hasn't provoked society to set fire to shops, mosques. We made a complaint ... the police didn't record the complaint. I say with responsibility that it was the Kandy DIG sir who involved Amith Weerasingha by saying, "You come over here for a moment".
The main suspect Amith Weerasingha was accused of the offence of having spread false information and had thereby broadcast racial concepts across the social media and in addition his supporter Sureda Suraweera and 10 suspects were taken into custody by a team of officers of the Terrorist Investigation Division last 8th early morning, police informed and the suspects have been detained at a detention camp for a period of 14 days.
