Will American aid stop?
A proposal against the decision taken by the United States of America to name Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was subjected to voting yesterday (21) at the United Nations General Assembly.
On this occasion 128 countries granted their vote opposing America's decision while 9 countries were against the decision . 35 countries refrained from voting while 21 countries kept away from the
voting. Whatever it is, Sri Lanka did not avoid voting. In fact she has given her vote against America.
It is a widely known fact that United States of America had addressed members of the United Nations Organisation before the voting session was held. The American representative of United Nations Organisation, Nikkie Hayley had sent a threatening note to membership countries that American President had mentioned that
aid provided to countries opposing him would be withheld. Suspicion has developed that some countries have avoided participation in voting procedures because of such threats. Whatever it is, what has cropped up is whether aid provided to Sri Lanka and other countries who opposed America would be thus withheld.
