St. Peter's student of grade 4 who falls in school ... dies at hospital!

An unfortunate incident is reported of a student of grade 4 studying at Bambalapitiya St. Peter's College who after school was over while coming down from the top floor wit other students has fallen down from the flight of steps and having been hospitalised in an ailing
condition, finally has succumbed to death.

The deceased student is a 10 year old schoolboy named Chandra Mohan Visidan from Grandpass. On the day of this incident while coming down he has collapsed possibly from a sick condition and that all of them were coming in a queue, a lady teacher thus expressed her opinion. After collapsing suddenly on the floor he had passed away while undergoing treatment at Colombo South (Kalubowila) Hospital that very night.

After school activities were over when queuing up with other students to come down to the ground floor from upstairs, this student Chandra Mohan had at once collapsed on the floor and the class teacher having noticed this had lifted him up and made him sit down and had promptly informed the teacher in charge of the medical centre. When the teacher had arrived and wanted to take him to hospital the student had responded saying, "I don't have any problem sir" and had refused to go.

The student has thus started coming down from the flight of steps once more and he had again fallen down and subsequently begun to wriggle, it was reported. It was at that moment that steps were taken to admit the patient to Kalubowila Hospital with the aid of a vehicle. It was notified that he had passed away around 9.25 in the night, day before yesterday while still under treatment. The deceased student's mother is employed in Singapore while the father happens to be a trishaw driver, police say. The post mortem was supposed to be carried out and further police inquiries are underway.
