3-wheel receipt gazette is to favour friends -- signs that Nimal Siripala's home to be surrounded by 3-wheelers
What was stated in a gazette notification released last 8th was that it is compulsory that 3-wheelers should carry a meter and that a receipt should be issued. Except for other 3-wheelers maintained for domestic use, this law comes into force and is compulsory in the case of 3-wheelers transporting outside passengers or goods on hire. Apart from the ticket, the notification has
announced that the right-hand exit-door of the passenger chamber should be partially or completely closed including several other orders.
Whatever it is, various opinions have been evident among 3-wheel associations in relation to the gazette notification. Some of those societies have given their consent to this; but one society has pointed out that recepts being made compulsory is a problematic one. What the Self-employees' Association informs is that it is not practical.
What Sunil Jayawardena, Chairman of the national council of the self-employed informed was that this gazette notification was released with the narrow motive of marketing meters at a figure of something between Rs. 18,000 and 20,000 because it is not possible to issue tickets from 3-wheeler passengers.
