Husband left all alone by himself after wife falls into lake and was taken away by rivals ... commits suicide!
A young man has entered into marriage with his lover against opposition from her parents and has spent his married life for over an year and during that period had been blessed with a child. However, as a result of an unfortunate traffic accident the wife had died and thus he was left helpless. He has on that occasion not been able to secure the wife's dead body and in addition he has not been permitted to participate in his wife's final rites by her parents. The husband who
under such circumstances was thoroughly disappointed had in the end committed suicide. This news is reported from Polonnaruwa.
The said person is a resident of Polonnaruwa and some years before this when having come to a relative's house in Mawanella had after seeing a comely lass in a neighbouring house had struck up a romance with the girl. There was antagonism on the side of her parents and the two of them had decided to make 'a dart in moonlight' freeing themselves from their clutches in a clandestine manner.
Parents of the girl had visited the Polonnaruwa house where the two of them had found lodging and they had once more tried to break up the affair. However by that time the couple had entered into a legal bond of marriage and the attempt proved futile. Whatever it is, the grudge the girl's parents had with the young man was not erased and even after the couple bore a child her parent's home in Kegalle was a forbidden zone.
Sometime recently this young man has come to a relative's house on his motor bicycle and when he was tn his way his bike had fallen into Polonnaruwa ZD lake when most pathetically his wife had drowned there and lost her life. The husband's life however was unharmed. The deceased was 25 year old Ruwanthika Priyanthi Kumari, a mother of one child.
Whatever it is, the parents of the girl who was at dagger's end with her husband had informed police that the daughter's death was suspicious and had requested that an inquiry be held. So saying they had taken measures to take the dead body away to Kegalle. The deceased's husband who left hospital after treatment had proceeded to the Kegalle house; but he had been chased away in that instance reprimanding him saying that "You killed the girl!" and had not even allowed him to see his dead wife's body. Later though he had gone to police and complained that he wished to get back his wife's body he had been unable to forward his plea to courts and get some consolation in the matter. During the process he had been interrogated at length about his wife's suspicious death.
In addition to having been left in a solitary world with a one and a half year old child, being burdened further with unanticipated problems he ended up with absolute disgust and finally not being able to pay his last respects to his wife too, had committed suicide on the very day of her burial by hanging himself in his home.
The day before this incident he had had been wailing at a stretch throughout the night clutching his child, the neighbours say and that night he may have hanged himself on a tree near his home, the neighbours have further said after the dead body was found the following day.
