Personal matters not relevant in official duties -- response from Saranga about what Umali did 

This is how Saranga Disasekera responded to a question posed to him by a radio channel about an incident which transpired on stage at Raigam Award Festival held recently.

"If that award was given to another actress who was nominated other than she ... it will be the same questions that I would have asked her too. What I did was carry out my duties. She spoke what she

wanted to say. After that incident that night at the award ceremony many accomplished people in the Field of Arts contacted me. What they said was that what was uttered was something that should not have been uttered and not what actually should be uttered.

They valued what I said. What I have to say is that I never confuse my job with personal matters. I am not sorry about what happened. Sometimes she also may have later realised that what she stated was in vain. That was not a place where personal matters are expressed. She didn't speak to me later".
