The Excellency festival hall building n Wellawatta which collapsed bringing death on 2 persons and injuring some 20 people had actually been operating on an active level even upto the day it suffered this tragedy. It was this festival hall that Shiek Sulaiman Mula patronised during his tour in the year 2015.

This location functioned offering catering services

to operate as a location for festivals. At the time the building collapsed, apart from the 3 stories available for service, 2 other stories were being constructed and it had been planned to utilise the location as a restaurant as well as a lodging-place after this new construction. 2 underground stories were used as a parking place of the hotel, it was said.
