Latest method to prevent Heroin mixed with rubber from being detected at Katunayaka

Each time news about Heroin powder is reported what comes to mind always is a white-coloured type of powder. However, racketeers have been creative enough to launch a method where the disadvantage of this powder being easily cornered by the police is prevented and the novel system has been introduced by using a mixture of rubber in the

form of a black-coloured carpet.

In this way a certain Pakistan business where Heroin has been imported to Sri Lanka in the form of carpets mixed with rubber was cornered yesterday. As such it has been possible to nab 3 items of carpets so mixed with rubber containing 5 and a half kilos of Heroin brought on the sly to the island through Katunayaka Airport early last morning. It was a Pakistani national who has brought this stuff on a flight belonging to Qatar Airways.

The 3 carpets were found spread about in his travelling bag and initially what he said was that he had bought them for the purpose of using them for himself. However, on suspicion by the police the carpets were slit open and examined after which it was revealed that Heroin was concealed inside. The Heroin has been cleverly deposited between two layers of rubber for the purpose of detaching the pieces of carpet and thus selling them to the required buyers. The packing has been prepared in a manner that the Heroin could later be removed from within. The Negombo Magistrate Courts decided that the Pakistani under custody be remanded until next 7th.
