After Ratnayaka family issue ... concerts with son comes to an end!
The story that Victor Ratnayaka's son Lelum Ratnayaka expressed towards the end of last week about Victor Ratnayaka's new marriage which incidentally created a big uproar has by now come in for discussion amidst various criticisms.
The related incident was spotlighted as an attempt made by a lady comparatively very much tender to him in age with the ulterior motive of an attempt of grabbing the famous singer's wealth. Both sons of Victor Ratnayaka's family
Lelum and Jatantha share the same standpoint where this point is concerned and the daughter and other members of the familyt too are against Victor's decision. (Another daughter of Victor died last year). As a result of it the series of Victor and his son's concerts launched sometime during the past too came to a halt because of Victor's decision.
Victor Ratnayaka was someone who created a world record of staging the 'Sa' concert for over a period of 39 years and was a distinguished singer who amassed a large sum of money through his skills because of it. In the year 2015 he had launched a series of concerts by the names of 'V2' and 'Thrimana' with his sons Jayantha and Lelum. Though his sons had gained celebrity and money through their father's goodwill, everything came to a standstill in the face of this present issue. After the decision to separate from the sons; though Victor had suggested to refrain from bringing in this issue, the crisis that has resulted in the face of all this by the action taken by Lelum is seen as an instance of 'looking up and spitting', and it has now transformed into a situation where the friction among themselves has paved the path for matters to deepen even further.
As this family conflict has been directed to the social media by members of the family themselves with attendant evidence furnished across videos and photographs, the topic nevertheless came in for discussion within the framework of the media as well. As a consequence the vast reputation acquired within Sri Lanka by Victor Ratnayaka from among a handful of singers of that status has come in for questioning over and over again. Though his private life is not relevant in this context in respect of his creations, nevertheless traditional social attitudes of course have a constant bearing on the character of those who carve a name for themselves on a platform of dignity and honour in Sri Lanka's culture.
It is confirmed by the fact that the question posed by us as to whether Victor is right or wrong was answered by voice comments as to the opinion of the readers when considering the half to half comments that are held in suspense by ideas expressed by them, which response then is a confirmation by itself.
