Schoolboy who refused to go to school hangs himself after being forced to attend school!

A schoolboy in Gabbala area, Rambukkana who had said that he was going to school day-before-yesterday (15) had on the way hanged himself and committed suicide near Pohora Oya in Rambukkana. The father of the boy happens to be a retired Army officer.

There had been a funeral close to this student's house last 14th and he had not attended school on that

day because of this funeral at his neighbour's home. Day-before-yesterday (15) he had told his father that he would not be going to school because the funeral was to continue that day too. The father had told him to go to school because he had already spent the previous day too at the funeral house. Later the boy had returned home saying that he could not get the bus going towards school.

Subsequently, the father had palmed him Rs. 100 and had sent him from home instructing him to go to school. After that the boy has left home leaving behind the shes he used to wear to school and instead of his books had taken some ordinary clothes with him and dressed in the school uniform. However, when some boys in the area had gone to catch prawns in Pohora Oya around 2.30 in the afternoon day-before-yesterday they had noticed this schoolboy having hanged himself with a trouser-belt.

It was a 16 year old schoolboy by the name of Asitha Madhusanka Gedarakumbura studying in 11C class in Nisshanka Maha Vidyalaya, Kurunegala residing in Walpola, Gabbala, Kotawella, Rambukkana who had died in this manner. Investigations are underway to ascertain as to whether this student has committed suicide because of a dislike to attend school or for some other reason.
