Rumour that Mahinda has gone to Singapore to change money
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa presently is in Singapore and the matter of so leaving to Singapore last Tuesday quite suddenly was kept a secret from the political arena. Earlier it was reported that he had left to Singapore for some matter regarding health. But now it has taken a different turn and the story that circulates now is that it is over a matter that concerns money. This rumour says that he had gone there because of a necessity that has cropped up regarding funds to be withdrawn from the
Singapore Bank Account belonging to Mahinda Rajapaksa's youngest son Rohitha Rajapaksa. Information has been published that the said Account holds funds collected for Rohitha's Space Project. There is news to the effect that the former supervision MP, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sajith Vaas Goonawardena too is sojourning in Singapore these days and has met the former President there.
Even stalwarts of the United Opposition had come to know about Mahinda travelling overseas quite abruptly only at the last moment. The normal United Opposition leader meeting which was held at the Wijerama official residence every Tuesday, in this instance has been postponed to Monday and it was towards the end of the meeting that Mr. Rajapaksa has informed party leaders that he would be leaving overseas the following day.
