Student expelled from school for giving consent to be abused by Cricket coach

The person known as Kirthi Rajapaksha who functions as the Cricket coach at Sri Rahula Balika Vidyalaya in Malabe had escorted a 13 year old student who undergoes coaching in the Ladies Cricket team some days ago and had duped her by taking her to a forest and in making her drink beer and tried to abuse her at which moment he was taken into custody by the police.
He was cornered in this manner because of an SMS sent by the victim to a girl friend of hers giving the information that her friend was being taken to an abandoned place in a forest and she in turn had provided this secret information to the police.

Though the said coach was arrested by the police after the incident the principal had taken steps to safeguard this coach who is supposed to be partial to this lady principal of Sri Rahula Balika Vidyalaya, Malabe and she has engaged in a strange method of rescuing the coach concerned by using the victim as the bait in this instance, the parents of the girl concerned have told the police. Already the student who has faced this mishap has succumbed to expulsion from classes.

As reported, the incident is as follows. The coach referred to has come to the student's house on the morning of January 1st and had partaken of the milk rice offered by her parents because it was a lucky day and after having tea he had told the parents that he would be taking this girl for practices at a training session to be held at a playground in Colombo and there was no cause for worry because she would be in the company of 5 other girl students in the vehicle. Under the circumstances that since a team comprising 5 female students were accompanied by him on previous occasions too and no issue had taken place and because this was an essential part of the training process the parents had granted their consent.

As the route has changed when proceeding with the student and because the other students were not picked on the normal route the victim had inquired from the coach about this and at which moment he had answered saying that they would be picked up from Kegalle after which they would be proceeding to Thapovanaya. Because the girl developed a suspicion, as a result of it she has taken steps to send an SMS to a friend of hers living in Galigamuwa area, most sensitively. The coach had stopped the vehicle at a kiosk close to Kegalle and having bought a Coca Cola bottle had offered her a drink. After drinking the beverage she has said that she felt somewhat intoxicated and that she had totally forgotten what transpired after that. (A suspicion has emerged whether the coach had mixed some intoxicating matter into her drink).

Subsequently the two of them had proceeded into a forest and after halting the vehicle in a bare land area he had started to abuse her. In the meantime her friend, the recipient of the SMS had continuously tried in vain to get at her over the mobile phone and assuming that her friend had fallen into some trouble had notified the police after which the police had made investigations about the vehicle and on comparing the landmarks with the aid of villagers had combed the Thapovanaya forest in Kegalle and ultimately managed to get at the two of them. At the time of arrest the said student was found in a highly intoxicated state and the coach too was intoxicated.

Later the student passed through a medical test in which it was found however that no sexual molestation had been done. After the incident what circulated in the school was that because of a patchy connection which existed between her and the coach for sometime, thereafter a distant journey such as this was arranged and thus this form of intimacy had taken place. As a consequence the principal of Malabe Sri Rahula Balika Vidyalaya has told the mother of the student for the daughter not to attend school until further notice. On the other hand the parents of the student have told the police that the principal has provided evidence to the police saying that on occasions when the driver of the school was not present, it is this coach who renders service of the driver to the principal to bring her to school and to drop her at her home;thus trying to pull him out of the fire. The parents of the victimised student have written to educational authorities as well as the President saying that the principal instead of helping the student who has fallen into a pit, had reproached her ... which they complain as being unjustified. Police investigations in relation to the incident have still not come to a close.
