Under the above conditions, the hospital coroner Mr. Galagedera has made comments that the reason for the death of the youth could not be specifically stated unless through a further study. The Coroner returned an open verdict because of inability to arrive at a decision and after informing about it to Thalangama Police, the relevant information was notified to Kaduwela Magistrate across a police 'B' Report.
The Kaduwela Magistrate Dhammika Hemapala visited Mr. Wimal Weeravansha's home and after conducting a magisterial inquiry had examined the dead body of the youth at Jayawardenepura Hospital. Subsequently he issued instructions that the body be directed to the Colombo South Judicial Medical Officer for post-mortem activities and to forward the report to him. As such the final verdict of the post-mortem was that parts of the body be directed to the Government Analyst.
24 year old Lahiru Janith Dissanayaka living at No. 71 South Hokandara had passed away in this manner on the top floor of the house owned by Wimal Weeravansha when putting up the night there. The deceased young man had been in the habit of frequenting Mr. Wimal Weeravansha's house and was a friend of Wimal's son Vibuthi, it had been reported. His house too had been situated very close to Wimal's house. What Wimal's wife Sashi Weeravansha had told in the presence of the media was that she knew nothing until the boy died and when his son told her that he does not seem to get up in the morning she had then called the deceased's mother Rupika to her house and had then only had gone to see in her company. Wimal's wife also told the media of a comment made by the youth's mother that the boy too had died of a heart attack, following in the footsteps of his father. After the Government Analyst's Report is received in this connection and if a Magistrate's order is given, police inquiries would get underway, it is reported.
