School authorities cannot impose restrictions on attires of mother's who come to school - Minister Akila
The other day a topic on social websites a subject which was illustrated by by photos about mothers and their dresses who visit St.Joseph's College. This had drawn the attention of the Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam
The Minister had added that some parents visit the school from their work places or on their way to office and would be attired in the dresses that they wear to the offices.
In this context it is not practical to order them to wear sarees or dresses that cover their shoulders and legs
Any mother who visits the schools should be clad in a decent dress. But the school authorities cannot impose restrictions on the dresses that they prefer to wear. .
The Minister had added that if any school authorities have requested the mothers to come clad in sarees only that rule need to be withdrawn.In this connection to issue a circular the secretary of the ministry of education has been advised.
