Mahindananda's list of properties!

Mr. Mahindananda who started his vocational life in the '80s in the capacity of an Insurance Collecting Agent for a salary of Rs. 1,200 has by now transferred himself to an image which portrays him as the proprietor of a large number of lands within the Colombo District itself. This astounding success of his was exposed for the first time after his wife separated from him and demanded a large sum of money in
the year 2013. That compensation alone amounted to 5,000 lakhs and he was asked to make a monthly payment of 50 lakhs. What the former wife had mentioned was that he had sufficient assets enough to pay that sum of money. The former wife who said so then began to expose his assets.

Mr. Aluthgamage who proceeded to canvas for votes after his stint in the insurance field became the Minister of Health for the Central Province in 1995 and after securing a position in parliament had subsequently acquired this progress. The 'B' Report (B 22467/01/2015 case file) has been forwarded to Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court under a section of the Finance Act and a host of information would be revealed in that respect.

The former Minister had paid a sum of 27 million and purchased the property 70/3/1, Kynsey Road, Colombo 7 and further he had erected a house there running into 42 million. In addition to that there is a land of 20 perches down Kuruppu Road, Borella under both his and his wife's name. On police investigations it was revealed that at the time of purchase of the said property its value had been 15 million; but what is indicated in the deed is 10 million instead. It was further revealed that there are three properties of 3.5 perches, 7.8 perches and 18.3 perches under the names of the Aluthgamage family, all at the address of George E. de Silva Mawatha, Kandy. In addition, there are two pieces of land written in the name of his wife and son at the address Chandra Wettasingha Mawatha, Koswatta, Nawala and at the time those lands were bought the purchase price had been 27 million and 16 million respectively, it was revealed. (What is shown on the deeds instead is an estimate of 11 million and 8 million respectively).

It is also revealed that properties have also been bought under the names of his brothers and sisters residing in Japan. In addition to all this, suspicious elements have surfaced regarding monies related to irregularities connected to the sale of his vehicle permit and about monies directed to a Singapore bank for the children's education. An interrogation has been carried out in 2013 on his wife's complaint during the last regime as to his extraordinary assets since he had only been a Collecting Officer of an insurance Company in 1987. It is also understood that he had responded to such allegations saying that his parents were owners of cardamom lands and that he inherited his ancestors' wealth. The speech made by MP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka in 2014 of how secrets were exposed as a result of Mahindananda's wife's complaint, from below
