Former parliamentarian Duminda Silva and the other three who were pronounced capital punishment at the Bharatha Lakshman murder case was brought to Welikada Prison last evening and having presumed that it would be a threat to the security of Dematagoda Chaminda alias Chaminda

Ravi Jayanath, he has been transferred to Pallekele Prison by now. Though Duminda Silva too was scheduled to be transferred to Pallekele until this morning, that decision was changed later on.

The defendants Duminda Silva, Anura Thushara and Sarath Bandara have been detained at C3 cell of Chapel Ward at Welikada Prison, it is reported. Though Duminda Silva and the other 3 defendants who received death punishment were as a custom given the jumper and escorted to the cell, Duminda Silva had not put on his jumper immediately, the prison reports. What he instead did was to head towards the office of the prison superintendent and that was to meet him. No convict sentenced to death or any other prisoner for that matter is allowed to go to any other place within the prison; but he had managed to creep into that place by hook or by crook. Duminda who stayed at the superintendent's office for about one hour was subsequently made to wear his jumper and taken to C3 cell.
