Wimal’s brother Sarath Weerawansa to avoid FCID continues to be on wheel chair

The officials of the police financial crimes investigating division had cordoned the residence of the brother of the former Minister of the National Housing Development authority and a coordinating secretary of the same ministry

Sarath Weerawansa yesterday the 12th instant.

It is reported that during the period of the previous era when he had been the coordinating secretary to the housing authority he had allowed the misuse of the vehicles belonging to the housing development authority. After investigations subsequent to complaints had revealed that he had been responsible for huge losses to the housing authority owing to the irregular conduct of his duties.

This person as is sick and on a wheel chair the officers had been unable to arrest him and produce before courts.

It is also reported that owing to his health condition he had been unable to call over at the police financial crimes investigation division though he had been summoned on several occasions. It is after he failed to call over at the financial crimes investigating unit they had visited his dwelling to arrest him.

The officers of the police financial crimes investigating division are to inform courts officials in this regard and would take steps when orders are received.
