The Nalanda Principal to police custody

For the offence  of instigating in assaulting of a teacher in the tutorial staff.

The Principal of Colombo Nalanda College Wasantha Ranjith Jayasundara has been remanded by the Borella police today afternoon

He has been suspected to have induced a group of students to

assault a member of the tutorial staff Susantha Herath the other day. After he was summoned and questioned the authorities of the Borella had arrested him.

Susantha Herath had lodged a complaint in the Bribery and Corruption investigation unit against the Principal Wasantha Ranjith Jayasundara.The Principal had arranged some students to assault Susantha Herath mercilessly in the Principal’s room. The teacher Susantha Herath was admitted to the National hospital Colombo for treatment of his injuries sustained to his back and abdominal areas. Later he had made a complaint to the police in regard to his assault.

It is reported that he is still undergoing treatment at the Colombo National hospital. The Principal in defence had added that the teacher Susantha Herath had attempted to assault him and when he had screamed the students have reacted and assaulted him.

However a female teacher Rohini Hapuarachchi had seen this incident when she was in the vicinity and had fainted after seen this assaulting incident.

When the correct position was revealed by the teacher to the Police there had been a suspicion arisen and the police had summoned him to obtain a statement. The Principal thus arrested is to be produced before courts.
