Marvan Atapattu's closest relation murdered

A closest relation of former Coach and well-known Test player of the Sri Lanka Cricket Team Marvan Atapattu had faced a mishap, it is reported. It is an unfortunate incident where a lady supposed to be the Loku Amma of Marvan Atapattu by relationship has been murdered in this tragic

manner.

This lady has been living with her servants in her home in Weligama area. Day-before-yesterday (6) morning her servants had left the house on a certain assignment and she had been left alone in the home when she had been murdered at the hands of an unknown person, it is suspected. When the servants had returned home they had noticed the lady had fallen down on the floor with cut injuries on her abdomen and pieces of cloth poked into her mouth. Subsequently she had been rushed to hospital by the servants and in the process she had breathed her last.

At the time of her death, Mrs. Soma Atapattu the deceased had been 69 years of age. By now police investigations have commenced and the Lady Magistrate of Matara inspected the house last morning. The police are of the opinion that the murder has been committed during the course of a robbery. Police dogs too have been employed in connection with investigations of the murder.
