Work on Rajagiriya Flyover to commence in July (video)

Work on the new flyover expected to be commenced in Rajagiriya with the objective of minimising the traffic congestion is to commence in July, Deputy Minister Harsha de Silva says.

This construction is to start from close to Rajagiriya Police Station upto Ayurveda Roundabout along Parliament Road . The flyover would be 534 metres in length and someone travelling from Battaramulla to Nelum Pokuna would have to spend just half of the time spent earlier for the same purpose, it is expected.

This is scheduled to be constructed with an AID from the Government of Spain and is expected to be completed between July 2016 and January 2018. During this period some roads in the environment would have to be closed. A descriptive video on this construction is seen below
