The last rites of 09 dead persons from the Aranayake tragedy are to be made today
During the recent heavy rains the Siripura area in Aranayake was severely affected by landslides which had accounted for a number of deaths and disappearances. The commanding officer of the western security service Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe commenting on this incident had said
that army and police personnel are still attending to recue operations.
The dead bodies of 09 persons are to be cremated today. These dead bodies would be brought to a school housed as a rescue camp and after conducting of religious formalities would be cremated at a cemetery nearby.
The Major General had also said that full security would be given to those houses where the residents had vacated owing to the landslide threat. There are 144 such houses the Major General had added.The search operations in the affected areas are still under way according the Major General.
