Schoolgirl bites off man's tongue in Mawathagama

An attempt made by a young man to coerce a 15 year old schoolgirl when she was alone in the house in Mawathagama area in Kurunegala was foiled because she was able to bite off a part of his tongue.

The youth who is supposed to have gained entrance to the house by force had uttered the words "Nangi you are very beautiful ... I like to give you a kiss" and in the process had
got close to her instantly and had even taken her inside a room and made her lie on a bed and tried to engage in kissing her. The girl who got perplexed over what was about to happen instantly had tried to shout out. But as it was to no avail she had attempted to push him away and get away from his grip. In the process he had tried to contain her continuously by embracing her back tightly and continue kissing her once more. The girl who managed to prevent this action had tried to bite his tongue in the middle and the attempt had turned out to be successful. To say to what extent she had bit his tongue it was so sharp that the effort had ended up with a part of his tongue being detached. The youth who sustained injury at that moment had given up the attempt of molesting the girl and had instead beat a retreat leaving the detached part of the tongue behind, stammering and yelling "this one is a devil!"  The householders had come to know of what happened to the schoolgirl in a short period of time and when they arrived in the house and made an inspection they were able to pick up the fallen down part of the young man's tongue.

The householders who then thought that it could be useful if at all that piece could be joined had thus proceeded to put it in a bottle and had run to the police, and informed the scene that had taken place. Subsequently the part of the tongue which was handed over to the police was deposited in a refrigerator at the police station and the police next had gone ahead with the duty of searching for the young man.

A certain youth of Kahapath Dela village belonging to Mawathagama Police area was taken into custody because the girl had made a complaint saying that he is suspicious in this connection. However on checking his tongue there was no change noticed in his tongue which made the police release him, it was reported. On the other hand the young man who lost a part of his tongue is yet missing. The police had launched a search for the youth and has even conducted a search at locations where treatment is given to injured people in the area, it was reported. The detached part of the tongue is however still intact at the police refrigerator.
