Protest organized against the increase in VAT on mobile phone charges

After the increase of VAT and the nation building tax the consumers had been drastically affected with the prices of many consumer products been increased.The worst affected category has been identified as the users of mobile phones.They have to bear a 19% increase with the increase of VAT up to 15% on their call charges which is relatively a large proportion.

The  authorities of the national organization for the protection of consumer rights in this respect has organized a protest for the increase of mobile phone charges with a view to urge the government authorities to offer redress to those affected.This protest is to be held opposite the telecommunication regulatory commission  in Narahenpita on Sunday the 15th instant at 10 am. The members of this organization have requested all those  mobile phone owners who are affected by this VAT increase to participate in this massive protest.
