President has been deceived and invited to a tobacco companies meeting

The President of the National Alcohol and Tobacco authority Dr Palitha Abeykoon had added on the 30th instant that President Maithripala Sirisena had been invited by a third party to attend to a meeting organized by the Tobacco companies by deceiving him.

Dr Palitha Abeykoon had said this at a press briefing held at the government news department. He had added this in this manner:

“According to the Sri Lanka’s tobacco Act the advertising of cigarettes is prohibited. However they are arranging ceremonies. At these events they speak about tobacco. To such a ceremony the President had also participated without his knowledge as he was invited by a third party. But tobacco companies behind had been this. This happens in many ceremonies like it.”

The President of the National Tobacco and Alcohol authority Dr Palitha Abeykoon had added this at the media briefing held on the 30th instant to make awareness for the world tobacco prevention day scheduled for the 31st May.
