Government should take responsibility for floods in Colombo, a Gota era is needed- Gammanpila
The member of Parliament Udaya Gammanpila addressing a media briefing in Colombo had said that owing to the rains all areas of Colombo had gone under water and that the government should
take responsibility for it.Hence he had added that a Gotabhaya Rajapaksa era is once more essential to protect the city of Colombo. He had added further:
The students cannot go to schools, the public cannot travel to work places and the patients cannot make way to hospitals and this type of flooding had occurred after four years. After six years the parliament had gone under water. Udaya Gammanpila had recollected in the year 2010 when Colombo and the parliament was under water the Defense Secretary who was also the secretary of the Urban development authority Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had done the cleaning of drains and small waterways allowing the water to drain off.In addition without discrimination he had ordered all unauthorized structures to be demolished.
Then he had stresses what has happened today attributing the cause of floods for many reasons. There are garbage hills been washed away and blocking the drainage systems. The efficient officers of the Urban Development Authority have been labelled as 'Gota's" people and sidelined.Instead now what the government says is that bringing before people statistics of rain fall figures and to disclose that if such an amount of rain fall is recorded so much of area would get flooded. What the people want is not such talks but efficient leader like Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to resolve such issues. These are what Member of Parliament Udaya Gammanpila had said addressing the media briefing
