Thieves have brought back the stolen goods after getting scared for the malevolent verses sung by Temple authorities
In a Temple in Matara Pasgoda some thieves had cut two expensive sandalwood trees belonging to the temple and taken the pieces away. The
temple authorities had arranged to chant malevolent verses ((Vas Kavi) in a nearby land.When the thieves had heard about this they had brought back the stolen expensive pieces of the two sandalwood trees back.
The two sandalwood trees are about 400 years old and the trunks are very expensive.The expensive trees have been felled by the thieves when the chief incumbent of the temple was away taking treatment for an ailment.
The demon priest ( Kapu Mahattaya) of the temple had commenced the malevolent verses to be chanted with the intention of causing grievous harm to the thieves.They had got scared and come and duped the expensive sandalwood trunks into the temple premises.
The thieves had chopped the sandalwood trees with a 'saw' The tree trunks are said to be very valuable.The police officers of the Urubokka police are conducting investigations into this theft.
