DB Nihalsinghe expires

Internationally acclaimed film producer, cameramen and director of films DB Nihalsinghe has expired on the 21st in Colombo following a heart attack.He was 77 years old at the time of
his demise.

He had produced a number of Sinhala films like Bakthi, Welikathara, Maldeniye Simeon, Kelimadala and Ridee Nimnaya where he had done the camerawork as well as direction.

He had produced Sri Lanka's first  Sinhala Tele drama " Dimuthu Muthu' while been the director and cameraman...He had won Presidents, Sarasaviya and OCIC awards for his achievements in the production and direction of films. His film 'Weli Kathara' was one among the beat ten films produced and released in the 1960 decade.

When the film corporation was formed in the year 1960 he was appointed the first General Manager and later was appointed as the Chairman of the film corporation..He was the founder of Tele Cine institution.

DB Nihalsinghe was the son of Hon DB Danapala......His funeral arrangements would be notified later.
