Took over as he could not wait-only till 30th - Aravinda
The former Sri Lankan cricketer Aravinda de Silva who was appointed as the chairman of the selection committee of the Sri Lanka Cricket had said that as the Sri Lanka cricket team had fallen down mentally he had accepted the post of Chairman of the selection committee along with Romesh Kaluvitharana and Kumar Sangakkara .
Former champion batsman and vice captain of the world cup winning team in 1996 Aravinda de Silva had said addressing a media conference that he had accepted the position only temporarily in order to add some muscle to the team before the ICC T/20 world cup in India and he tenure would end on the 30th of April.
Speaking at the media conference Kumar Sangakkara had said that he is not underestimating the non experienced younger players but they have not been utilised for the purpose they were selected for. Sangakkara had added that in 2014 when Sri Lanka won the ICC T/20 world cup the team was also in the same position.Hence the team could overcome the mental condition and win again.
