This is an era where they put 'Kakul maattu' to me ....
Falling on stage is a simple thing
- Udaya Gammanpila
Udaya Gammanpila of Pivithuru Hela Urumaya who while walking over to the microphone to address the Ekabaddha Vipakshaya Janasatana
held a few days back at Hyde Park, Colombo had tripped and fallen on stage. However he had instantly got up and started addressing the audience as if nothing happened. But he had sustained no injury as such. When this incident spread across the social media, Gammanpila has now made amends by responding to it by giving it an interpretation from a political angle.
"Getting tripped and falling on the carpet on the stage at an era they put 'kakul maattu' to me is not a big thing. I tripped and fell not on stones and gravel ... it was on on a carpet laid for me on stage. At the moment I was getting on stage to address the public, the huge gathering who encouraged me by giving a thundering ovation. I fell by losing my footing this way when I was walking forward to greet that crowd. Falling down by tripping in front of the masses at a time when my leg is being pulled ... is not a big thing", is the reply he gave. The video of that incident, from below
