Once again a one hour power cut

The trade union officials of the Ceylon Electricity Board had conveyed to the media that owing to the prevailing drought a power cut of at

least one hour is to made island wide.

The President of the trade union Athula Wanniarachchi had quipped that owing to this dry weather the electricity generation has been brought down to unprecedented levels.

At the same time owing to the heat the consumption of electricity has risen also to unprecedented levels.Owing to these two specific reasons the necessity to have a power interruption has arisen.

Although this reason was in the forefront the Minister of power and energy had been a bit reluctant to impose power cuts.However in certain areas on the 28th insrtant, the power had been interrupted for one and half hours in two stages in the morning and in the afternoon
