Murdered body of preschool teacher in Kivulaara scrub jungle

The headquarters inspector of Moneragala  headquarters police station Vehitha Desahpriya has revealed that the person connected with the murder of the preschool teacher in the scrum jungle on the 18th instant in Moneragala

Wedikumbura Marawa Kivulaara area.

The preschool teacher is a 54 year old spinster BH Somalatha has been in charge of the preschool located in the Wedikumbura 32 division.

On the 17th instant at around 11.30 am she had returned home in a three wheeler which had come to take a preschool child home.

As she had not returned home her sister a "Sil mathawa' had complained to the  Moneragala police station .

On the 18th instant her body had been found by her relatives from the Kivulaara scrub jungle.

The Moneragala district magistrate and the Moneragala Magistrate had conducted the initial inquest into the death of the preschool teacher.The postmortem was entrusted to the judiciary medical officer  Dr Ruwan Nanayakkara.The postmortem was scheduled to be conducted on the 20th instant at the Moneragala hospital premises.

In regard to the incident the sister of the deceased 'Sil mathawa' Kivuleare Wijithamala had this to say:

BH Somalatha is my sister. She is a spinster.She had been a teacher of the preschool for a number of years.She is the head teacher of the Dharwavijaya preschool.In addition she had also been a teacher for a long time at the Kivuleara Galkanda Vivekarama dhamma school as a daham pasel teacher.

On Thursday the 17th instant as usual she had left to the preschool and while leaving home she had said as there is special work she would return home by 11.30am.But she never returned even past 12 noon.But she had not returned on inquiries made from the preschool she  had returned home before noon.

By evening as the younger sister had did not return home she had complained to the Moneragala police station.

It had been revealed that the head teacher had come back in the same three wheeler in which AP.Premila Chandanie had come to take her child.The body of the teacher BH Somalatha had been found on the morning of the following day the 18th from the scrub jungle of Kavulaara.This scrub area is located close to the teacher's residence.

A Member of the Dharmavijaya preschool development society , 28 year old Ms AG Nishanthi had said this is a terrible tragedy and had  also this to say:

Loku teacher had left the preschool on the 17th Thursday around 11am.She had told her before she left she is going home in a three wheeler.Usually on other days also she returns home in a three wheeler. Nishanthi also had heard that her body was found from a scrub jungle the following morning.The incident was described by her as a real crime.The whole village is mourning the death of the teacher.

She had told that the culprits should be brought to book and given the highest punishment.The teacher had lived a very simple life according to the precepts of Buddhism.She had been also a dedicated Buddhist.She had served for about thirty years as a teacher.

The police has been able to identify the murderer working in a quarry in Kivula Aragama and is a resident of Demodara, Badulla. After the incident he has fled from the village.

The police has deployed personnel to locate him.

Under the instructions of the Superintendent of Police Moneragala, Anura Mapalagama, the Assistant Superintendent of Police Sugath Galegama, the Headquarters Inspector of police Vehitha Desapriya and the team are investigating into the murder.
